This year the worship and festivity marking the end of the sacred month of fasting takes place on Friday, 15th June. The ‘Id prayers will begin at 9:30 am, and will be followed by a delicious brunch to foster genuine fellowship between Muslims and others. Everyone welcome to attend the service and partake in the festivities. Whoever wishes to stay on for the weekly Friday congregational prayers at 12:45pm will be most welcomed.

7. YOUTH DAY GALA DINNER

SATURDAY, 16TH JUNE @ 7 PM

In June 1976, the oppressed youth of South Africa rose in sustained revolt to protest the evil iniquities of institutionalized discrimination. Although this youthful insurrection was crushed by the apartheid state, the immediate and long-term legacy of these pioneering student protests heralded the beginning of the end of white hegemony in this country. The Open Mosque has invited Prof Jonathan Jansen to be the keynote speaker at this important gala dinner that salutes the extraordinary courage of all those young people who bravely sacrificed their lives so that today we can all live in a free, equal, democratic and non-racial country.
